RENTAL ASSISTANCE
The new Emergency Rental Assistance Program 2.3 (ERAP 2.3), as approved by the Board of Commissioners, is scheduled to accept applications starting on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. and will close at 5:00 p.m. on March 15.
This new program is similar to the previous ERAP Phase 2 and will provide emergency rental assistance to Miami-Dade County households experiencing financial hardships as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. You can apply electronically or by printing out a hard copy of the application via the link below. Please share with those who may be eligible to apply.
The ERAP 2.3 provides rental payment assistance for up to 12 months in arrears, if you meet certain income qualifications and are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The amount of rental assistance you receive will depend on the amount of unpaid rent.
Many of you know that I have volunteered for several years with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program. This year we tried to help people with their tax returns in as socially- distanced way as we could devise. Much to our own disappointment, our system did not work well enough. We shut down our sites. Click here for find out about Internet sites for self-filing. A couple of relatively close in-person places operated by Branches are open. Like the sites I worked with, the in-person sites are requiring that people make appointments.
